Philodendron Lemon Lime
The Philodendron Lemon Lime, also known as Philodendron hederaceum ‘Lemon Lime,’ is a vibrant tropical houseplant loved for its heart-shaped foliage in brilliant shades of chartreuse, lime green, and golden yellow. Its colorful vines can cascade from a hanging basket or climb a trellis, moss pole, or other support.
Mature plants may produce greenish-white, hooded flowers called spathes, although blooming is uncommon when grown indoors. This Philodendron is primarily grown for its bright foliage and fast-growing vines.
Bright, indirect light is ideal for maintaining its vivid color. It can tolerate medium light, but growth may become slower and less vibrant. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.
Watering
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly and allow all excess water to drain. Avoid keeping the soil constantly wet, as this may cause root rot.
Care Tips
- Plant in a rich, airy, well-draining potting mix.
- Provide moderate humidity for healthy growth.
- Give the vines a moss pole or trellis if you prefer a climbing display.
- Prune long vines to encourage fuller, bushier growth.
- Rotate the plant regularly for even growth.
- Protect from frost, cold drafts, and sudden temperature changes.
- Fertilize monthly during spring and summer.
- Keep away from curious pets and children.
